Golden-ringed Dragonfly (Cordulegaster boltonii)

It has been some time since I list posted as I have been on holiday, and have lots of films to process and scan. This may mean a bit of delay until my next post as well!

This shot of the Golden-ringed Dragonfly (Cordulegaster boltonii) was taken at Ramsdown nature reserve middle of June. Ramsdown nature reserve, lies opposite Sopley Common, and is a Amphibian and Reptile Conservation Trust (ARC) site (formerly known as the Herpetological Conservation Trust (HCT). It is a good place to visit for dragonflies as it has a pond which you can walk round.  It also has a great view point at the end of the path where you can look across the Ramsdown plantation.

On this particular day it was overcast and very windy, so instead of them being very active I found this Golden-ringed Dragonfly hanging on some heather whilst strolling along the bottom part of the path close to the main dual carriage way. I used my Zuiko Olympus OM 90mm F2 macro lens with the Olympus OM T32 wide angle filters acting as diffusers over the Olympus OM T28 twin flash heads.

I was trying out a different slide film, Fuji Sensia 100 RA-669, as well for wildlife macro photography and I am very happy with the result. Left in a quandary now on the choice of slide film to use, Sensia or Velvia. Serves me right for experimenting!
