Small Pearl-bordered Fritillary (Boloria selene)

Returned to Bentley Wood to look to shoot the Small Pearl-bordered Fritillary butterfly (Boloria selene) as this is one of the known appearance sites, and also after the success of the previous visit pictures of the Pearl-bordered Fritillary (Boloria euphrosyne) butterfly. Again was not to be disappointed and here is a selection taken on the day.

All were taken using the Olympus OM 80mm F4 macro lens.

First couple with the wings open on the Bugle plant.

Then late in the day discovered this one that appeared to be roosting on a grass. Mounted the camera on a tripod, starting off at 1:2 magnification then edged closer to shoot at 1x magnification.

With the last one I used my macro flash twin T28 with wide angle filters.
