Swanage Pier & Filters

These photo’s are of a very well known landmark viewed from Swanage Pier, visited over the winter just gone. It was a very dull grey & bitterly cold day, so this was pretty much the main and only focus of the day, great relief once back in the car. Used the poor weather conditions as an opportunity to experiment with a couple of filters.

All images on Fuji Velvia 50 slide film.

The first filter used was the B&W 110D filter, prior success rate with this filter being poor.

Tip: If you are using this filter with a film camera that has a viewfinder, then make sure you cover the viewfinder whilst taking the shot otherwise you will find your image is ruined by a light streak once developed.

The next couple of pictures are with the Cokin P173 Varicolour Blue/Yellow filter, which comes into it’s own when faced with water producing some very distinctive results.

The yellow will turn water golden

whereas the blue, well turns water very blue!
