Pignal Inclosure

Last Sunday saw a visit to Pignal inclosure in the New Forest for the first time this year in the search of butterflies & dragonflies. The only species of butterfly I saw there was the Pearl-bordered Fritillary (Boloria euphrosyne), although in quite a few numbers. I only managed some shots from distance, which are not as good previous years so decided not to post them up.

On the dragonfly front came across both the male & female Broad-bodied Chaser (Libellula depressa).

Finally, this yet to be identified caterpillar was found on the path heading back towards the car.

UPDATE 6June13: Caterpillar now identified as the Broad-bordered Yellow Underwing moth larva on UK Butterflies forum.
