Earth Star Fungi

I read on a Blashford Lakes blog that there was an Earth Star fungi (Geastrum sp.), which are related to puffballs, showing near the Education centre, and after a short search found a couple on the side of the path that runs from the Education centre towards the Woodland Hide.

The other sightings over the weekend were a Kingfisher (Alcedo atthis),  adult & juvenile Great Crested Grebes (Podiceps cristatus), and a Common Sandpiper (Actitis hypoleucos). The Kingfisher and the Grebes were spotted outside the Goosander Hide, whereas the Common Sandpiper was on the lake shore line outside the Lapwing Hide.
