Stanpit Marsh nature reserve

This selection of bird shots are from a couple of visits to Stanpit Marsh, a local nature reserve, before and after the New Year. You will typically see waders, wildfowl, pipits, and stonechats here.

The waders sighted included a Curlew (Numenius arquata), Redshank (Tringa totanus), and a Little Egret (Egretta garzetta).

The wildfowl included Teal, Mallards, Wigeon and Brent Geese.

I did see a pair of Stonechats (Saxicola torquata) and there were several Meadow Pipits (Anthus pratensis) amongst a flock of Pied Wagtails (Motacilla alba).

Here is a shot of a one of the Meadow Pipits.

There was also a small flock of Starlings (Sturnus vulgaris) in one of the trees, of which here are 3.
