Wood & Water

This is a selection of wilidlife found in the wood or on water at Blashford Lakes nature reserve near Ringwood.

First off the ones from around the woodland who were primarily little fellows like this Long-tailed Tit (Aegithalos caudatus).

One of the little fellows was creating quite a stir outside the Woodland hide, attracting quite a posse of photographers so much so that the hide itselff was totally empty. The little fellow in quesiton was this Firecrest (Regulus ignicapillus).

There was also another type of Crest on the reserve, Goldcrest (Regulus regulus). This particularly one was flitting amongst the brambles.

I was even more fortunate with this next Goldcrest which decided it would alight on a fence post only a few feet away from me and offered up a very brief photo still and motion shoot opportunity.

This Buzzard (Buteo buteo) connects the wood to the water, first spotted flying across the wood to alight on another fence post before trying to take a duck or two across the water.
