Zugspitze

The weather continued on the next day to be kind, and so on another beautiful clear day we headed out to Lake Eibsee by bus to get the cable car up Zugspitze.

The trip on the cable car up offers you great views of the surrounding countryside, including impressive views across Lake Eibsee.

Zugspitze is the highest mountain in Germany, 2,962 metres above sea level, and once you get to the top station you have 360° panorama views of the mountain peaks.

We then got another cable car down to the Zugspitze Glacier and  Zugspitzplatt.

The round trip was completed via the rack and pinion railway through the Zugspitze Tunnel. I was slighly disappointed using this to get back to the start as it doesnt really offer you much of a view.

We then took a short stroll along part of Lake Eibsee before catching the bus back to Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

Another brilliant day.
