Harvest Mice

Last April I went along for the first time to an indoor photography workshop day held by Captive Light at Liberty’s Centre in Ringwood to photograph harvest mice, amphibians and reptiles.

It was an amazing experience, and one of the highlights was the harvest mice (Micromys minutus).

These cute mice are the smallest rodent in Europe, weighing up to just 6g, and the only mammal in the UK to have a prehensile tail. They are mainly vegetarian, eating seeds and fruits, but will also eat invertebrates.
