Stoborough Heath visit, end of May

On the last weekend in May I paid a visit to Stoborough Heath and thankfully the insects were starting to show. Previous to this they had been hard to come by due to I think the cold weather. This set of 3 were taken using my Zuiko Olympus OM 80mm F4 macro lens with the Olympus T32 wide angle filters acting as diffusers on the Olympus T28 twin macro flash heads on Kodak E100G positive film.

1st shot is of an Argid sawfly (Argidae), aperture F16. Managed to capture it just as it was taking off.

2nd shot is a female Common Scorpion fly (panorpidae), aperture F16.

Last shot is of the Bloody-nosed beetle (Timarcha tenebricosa) which gets its name from its defensive nature of exuding red fluid from it’s mouth, aperture F16.
