Yesterday saw a visit to Pignall Inclosure within the New Forest on the hunt for butterflies and dragonflies. This choice of venue proved to be an excellent one for both. There were lots and lots of butterflies to be seen, and I mean lots, particularly on or around flowering brambles and this is the main theme of the first set of pictures. The second set is of the dragonflies and an assortment of other insects spotted on the day.
The butterflies.
1. A Large Skipper (Ochlodes sylvanus ).

5. Silver-washed Fritillary (Argynnis paphia ). The second of which was taken further back to show more of the environment and the flowering brambles.

6. Marbled White (Melanargia galathea ). This female was very camera friendly hence the 3 different compositions here

The Dragonflies & Assortment
1. Golden-ringed Dragonfly (Cordulegaster boltonii ). Surprisingly spotted 5 or 6 in total on the walk.

4. A Buff tip moth (Phalera bucephala ). This was spotted by my brother, who I thought was taking a twig on first glance
