Adobe’s Dehaze Feature in Camera Raw

I have been meaning to do this post about my try out of Adobe’s new Camera Raw 9.1 Dehaze feature for a while, the main distractor for the lateness being creation of video’s using PowerDirector 14.

I am impressed with the the way this feature enables you to extract detail in an image with the removal of haze caused by atmospheric conditions, and here is an example to show what is possible.

Here is the original landscape shot taken near the top of Beacon Hill.

I first made some adjustments in the Basic panel and then used the Dehaze tool.

You control the amount to remove by adjusting a slider in the Effects panel in the Dehaze section. The next screenshot shows you the effects panel along with the result of these adjustments.

Note: The feature also allows you to increase the amount of haze by moving the slider in the opposite direction.

I then cleaned up the image, applied Topaz Denoise and finally Topaz Detail 3 to achieve this final image.
