Flies for you!
Yesterday saw a visit to High Wood alognside Badbury Rings. The flowers are starting to emerge, including a few bluebells, though at the moment these appear to be just attracting flies, along with the occasional bumble bee. I did not see any solitary bees so here are a few photo’s of flies for you.
I used my Olympus 80mm F4 macro lens that attaches to the Olympus 65-116 telescopic tubes, shooting at F11 with diffused flash.
The first fly I think may be a member of the snipefly family
which decided that a better proflie for the photo was eyes on!
Next a green Gymnocheta viridis Parasitic Fly.
A Hoverfly doing a few leg exercises…
and finally this Dark-Edged Bee-Fly (Bombylius major) resting on the ground.
