Poolewe walk round Loch Kernsary

The Poolewe walk round Loch Kernsary is simple to follow and reasonably easy, a few short inclines and boggy in places. The route to follow to get the best views of Loch Kernsary and the Fisherfield mountains is via the footpath signposted to Loch Kernsary just outside of the village Poolewe. You can park in a lay-by on the opposite side of the road that is very close to the footpath. Once you reach the other end of Loch Kernsary you...

Ardessie Falls & Gruinard Bay

Both Ardessie Falls and Gruinard Bay are located along the A832 (between Gairloch and Ullapool) in the Torridon region. The walk to the Ardessie Falls is reasonably easy, a short, sometimes boggy and steep walk. I discovered 3 waterfalls of which 2 of them are shown here. You may also be lucky enough to get a good view across Loch Broom on a fine day (not in my case). Olympus OM4ti & Zuiko Olympus 24mm F2 lens at F16. Fuji Velvia...

Ardheslaig & Ob Chuaig walks

This set of landscape shots are from a couple of walks last year found on the Applecross Peninsula in the Torridon region. The Ardheslaig walk will take to you Kenmore and back, however the weather turned very wet just after taking this panorama of Ardheslaig, which was only a short climb from the start. Valley of Fire, Nevada

The Las Vegas holiday also featured a trip to the Valley of Fire that lies within the State of Nevada. This state park is famous for it’s red sandstone formations that were formed approx 150 million years ago, and there are car parks situated close to all of the major featured attractions located around the park. These are my pick of the shots taken that day. The Beehives, with the first shot taken on digital whilst the second...

Grand Canyon South Rim

In December of last year I traveled with friends over to Las Vegas, and this short break included an overnight stay at the Grand Canyon south rim. Although the weather was very cold with snow and ice on the ground, plus temperatures getting as low as -12 during the night, it did mean the sky was clear and so able to catch both the sunset and sunrise. I used a SteadePod camera stabiliser in place of a tripod, which did help to minimise...
