Wildlife

A trip to Keyhaven nature reserve

Took a trip to Keyhaven nature reserve the other weekend, and from the car park first went on the circular walk that heads towards Lymington before looping back round at Pennington marsh. There was very little wildlife close by on this part of the walk, with the tide being in and many areas flooded due to the incessant heavy rain this month.

There were a lot Lapwings (Vanellus vanellus) in the distant fields near Pennington marsh which I managed to catch in flight, although this doesn’t give enough justice to the number there. Plus caught some Brent Geese (Branta leucopsis) flying over on the way back to the car park.

On return to the car park decided to walk in the other direction towards the spit with sunset fast approaching and the tide going out. Spotted a group of Turnstones (Arenaria interpres) very close to the rocks just before reaching the bridge to the beach.

Shot this one walking by.

and managed to snap this one as it jumped into the air after taking a bath.
